The cost of a Quebec driver’s licence increases yet again!

In 2010, the cost a Quebec driver’s licence will increase from $72/year to $86/year.  Remarkably, this is a 200% increase since 2006.

Back in 2006 the driver’s licence for a Quebecer was $86 for a two year period.  Since then, the SAAQ has decided to renew driver’s licences on an annual basis.  In 2007, the fee was $55 per year.  In 2008 the fee increased to $72 per year.  Now it’s back to $86, however Quebecers must renew annually.

Think about it, annual renewals require more administrative costs and adds to Quebec’s overinflated size of government.  Totally unnecessary…  This is just another tax grab by the Quebec Government used to fill up their coffers.
