Do I need to file a paper election?
by: Better Tax
Almost everyone will answer no to this question, even if you are electing to split pension income (form T1032 is submitted via NETFILE).
Some less common elections and forms still need a "wet" signature and must be filed on paper after filing your tax return online. These include:
- subsection 45(2) or 45(3) elections,
- a section 85 rollover (T2058, T2057, and T2059),
- a section 116 certificate (T2062), and
- an election with no "prescribed form"—e.g., a subsection 70(6) elections.
