I can't use my tuition credits yet. Will I lose them?
by: Better Tax
No you won't lose them. You can carry unused tuition amounts forward to a later year. Enter your T2202 or other tuition receipt and file a return, even if you don't owe tax. You must report your expenses in the year you receive the tax receipt—you can't just add it to a later year's return.
If you can't benefit from claiming them this year, you can also normally transfer them to a parent, grandparent, spouse, or common-law partner.
Your notice of assessment or CRA account shows what's available to carry forward. Better Tax also tracks this for you.
